Opening Reception June 5 from 6-9PM

Ali Gray Gallery is pleased to present Julie Gray: Prints & Paintings, a solo exhibition featuring the artist's celebrated white-line woodblock prints alongside a new collection of oil paintings.

At the heart of the exhibition is Gray's ongoing exploration of the white-line woodblock print, a technique developed in Provincetown in the early twentieth century and often referred to as the "Provincetown Print." Using a single carved block and hand-applied color, the process creates the distinctive white lines that have become a hallmark of this uniquely local art form. Gray embraces the tradition while bringing her own contemporary perspective through vibrant color, expressive composition, and a deep connection to place.

The exhibition also introduces a new body of oil paintings that expands Gray's artistic practice. While working in a different medium, these paintings share many of the qualities that define her prints: a sensitivity to light, an appreciation for landscape, and an ability to capture both the beauty and spirit of a moment.

Together, the prints and paintings offer a conversation between tradition and exploration, honoring Provincetown's artistic legacy while reflecting an artist continuing to evolve her voice.

Julie Gray lives and works in Boston and Provincetown and currently serves as Board President of the Provincetown Tennis Club. Her work is held in private collections throughout New England and beyond.
