The Outer Cape is more than a destination. It is a living landscape shaped by light, water, movement, and time. Layers of the Coast brings together artists whose work explores this distinctive environment from different yet complementary perspectives, from the landscapes we see, to the ecosystems beneath the surface, to the familiar pleasures of coastal life.

Lori Dolby captures the familiar beauty of Provincetown and the Outer Cape through luminous landscapes, seascapes, and everyday coastal scenes. Her paintings celebrate the ever-changing effects of light, revealing the unexpected colors found in dunes, harbors, beaches, and shoreline vistas. Built through rich layers of paint, her work invites viewers to experience the Cape as both familiar and continually new.

Nedret Andre looks beneath the surface, drawing inspiration from the submerged eelgrass meadows that sustain coastal ecosystems. Her abstract paintings grow from years of observing tides, light, movement, and the quiet rhythms of the natural world. Layered gestures, shifting color, and organic forms reflect the complexity, resilience, and fragility of these underwater environments.

Haley Felix brings a playful perspective to the coast through her whimsical paintings of oysters. Removed from the water and presented on the plate, her oysters capture another familiar side of life by the sea. With humor and personality, Felix transforms this quintessential coastal subject into something unexpected, celebrating the pleasure, character, and conviviality that are as much a part of the Cape experience as its natural beauty.
